Family Infant and Toddler Program

The Family, Infant & Toddler Program serves children from birth to three with developmental delays or medical conditions that may lead to developmental delays.

A developmental delay is the inability to perform a skill typically seen in other children of the same age. Developmental delays may occur in motor skills, like walking, or other areas, like speech or problem solving.

Some medical conditions put children at risk of developmental delays. Some of those conditions are premature birth, Down syndrome, and chronic medical illnesses like cancer, heart problems and diabetes.

The years from birth to three are critical years of learning. The skills learned during this period form the foundation for all later learning. If a child needs extra help, it’s best to provide that help early in a child’s life.

The Family, Infant and Toddler Program of the Orange/Windsor Region includes a staff of community resource parents, service coordinators, developmental educators, and a medical social worker, who provides service coordination, evaluations and ongoing services and support. The team assists families in connecting with resources around the unique needs of their child and family. We work closely with therapists, schools and other home visitors.
